According to Tam (Spider), “Fans can vote for the best performance award winner, with 50% of the marks coming from viewers. It’s a little tricky as sometimes, a singer may walk away with an award due to their popularity.”

And Amy Search said: “It is getting even more competitive as the years go by. In the past, the AJL comprised only one category. Now, there are three categories – rock, ballad and ethnic creative, which give singers and composers the opportunity to compete in their specific genre.”

“In terms of voting, it would be best to have two separate awards – jury’s choice and people’s choice.”
